NFL Star Tim Tebow Marries Former Miss Universe, Demi Nel-Peters In South Africa
Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has married the love of his life, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, in South Africa on January 20, 2020. Nel-Peters is a beauty queen who was named Miss Universe in 2017. She began dating Tebow in 2018, and the couple announced their engagement on January 10, 2019.
Known for his philanthropy, Tebow and his new wife requested that their 250 wedding guests (and whoever else) make charitable donations rather than wedding gifts on their big day. The couple was married in a 30-minute ceremony in Nel-Peter's native country of South Africa.
According to Fox News, the wedding included traditions from both America and South Africa, as Nel-Peters commented, "We're both very traditional. We wanted to look back at the wedding and see that it was intimate, elegant, and traditional. We definitely wanted it to be something that we could look back on and know that nothing was dated. We want to remember this day for the rest of our lives."
Tebow is clearly smitten with his new wife, saying, "All of my dreams have come true. It was 100 percent worth the wait."
