Update (7/7/08)
Hi, guys! We hope you've had a great 4th of July and stuff...we know ours was quite eventful!
We ended up attending the Flower Mound public fireworks display, and sat in the bleachers of the Flower Mound High School, where the event was being held. However, the wind began to blow in our direction, and once the fireworks started going off, the firework debris started hailing all over us! Chunks of what resembled the outer casing of a football (ranging from small to fairly large) showered onto us, causing a panic of hundreds of attendees who immediately started scrambling towards the parking lot. My younger sister (age 14) got a speck of the firework in one of her eyes, apparently hitting her pupil and causing much pain and tears. She was immediately taken to the ambulance, and the fireworks show was soon called off as a result, amid loud "boo"'s from the crowd which remained. Thankfully...her eye's fine.
We gathered up several chunks of the firework encasing, though, and took it home with us (although we heard from a policeman that doing so was illegal...they needed the remnants to conduct an investigation to see what went wrong...sorry Mr. Policeman..don't arrest us?) and we'd post pictures of them, if we only had the time. :)
But yeah...in other news, we've been happily busy wrapping up the studio recordings that we've been working diligently on, and we're proud to say that we've completed the vocals for one of the two tracks! This week we may have time to finish the vocals in the other song, and we should have them both mixed and mastered within a month from now. (a very important finishing touch, for those who don't know much about the process)
We think you'll love the upcoming music, though, and we're praying that many will be able to relate to the lyrics and be inspired to change for the better. We've always been about transforming lives, and we still believe more than ever that music is a great conduit for doing that.
We're also pleased to announce our summer t-shirt sale! If you've wanted to get an awesome Karpenter's Kids t-shirt, but either the price or your own laziness has been keeping you back, now's a GREAT time to get one! For every fan that puts us somewhere in their top friends, we're knocking the shirt prices down to $8 for the "Karpenter's Kids Fan" shirt, and $14 for the "Karpenter's Kids ROCKS" shirt---AND THAT INCLUDES SHIPPING!!!

Peace, love, and safe fireworks,

In November 2004, yet another barely-decent garage band was formed. However, unlike countless other bands that die within a short time due to lack of commitment, two brothers, Nathanael and Levi Hambrick, struggled with sweaty brow and beating heart to expand musically and create songs that would not only sound good, but would have a positive, uplifting message that almost anyone could relate to.
Now with a third member, Gunner, the band is obtaining new heights with the release of their two first studio-recorded songs, Battle Cry and Cliffhanger. This could very well be the next big band out there. Only time will tell.

4/18/08:
We're thrilled to be uploading "Battle Cry" today!!!
We know a lot of you out there have been waiting for this song a longggg time.
And others of you didn't even know it existed until now.
But regardless of which group you fall into, make sure to listen and leave feedback...we'd love to hear what you think!
Eight-minute songs are always risky, and it's definitely the first time we've attempted something this huge.
So just be honest about whether or not you like it.
(And just for the record...if you'd like to hear it in better quality, go to our myspace instead)
We love each and every one of you, and we can't WAIT to see what you think of our newest creation.
-Levi, Nate, and Gunner

Bad things happen even to people who might not deserve it.
Anddd...this week...something badddd happened to Levi.
He was involved in a devastating car accident.
His funeral will be held two weeks from now, and we hope a good number of you will be able to make it out to the funeral, to help us mourn our loss, and help us find comfort through all this tragedy. :(
...
Haha, ok, I'm TOTALLY kidding.
Levi's still alive, thank God.
However, his companion---the car itself---didn't make it.
It's completely totalled, which means that Levi will not only have to pay increased insurance for the rest of his life, but also pay for a new car as soon as he can.
Ouch?
Yeah.
It's not exactly the best time for this to be happening to him.
I just thought I'd blog about it, though, since we haven't posted anything in quite some time.
Take care everyone, and DRIVE SAFELY!
Nathanael

Each new song we’ve ever had the privilege of writing/recording/releasing has been an experiment of some kind.
We’ve played around with different sounds, genres, and even song lengths. However, our newest song, “Battle Cry”, is even more of an uncertainty than anything else we’ve produced in the past.
1. Never before have we written a song that lasts eight full minutes.
2. Never before have we had an intro that lasts two minutes.
3. Never before have we recorded a song with violins and strings in it.
4. Never before have we had to change some of the melodies at the last minute while in the studio.
We certainly hope that we’ve succeeded in making a song that someone can relate to.
Something catchy, even.
Something you’ll be subconsciously humming throughout the day.
Only then will we feel like we’ve accomplished what we’ve set out to do.
A song is only as good as the listeners think it is, though…so what do YOU think about Battle Cry?
We want to know. Honestly.
It doesn’t matter if you love it wholeheartedly, or if you hate it with every fiber in your being: your voice needs to be heard, so we can adjust our techniques for all the songs we plan on composing in the future.
Leave us a comment, either here in this blog, or on our page---constructive reviews are always appreciated.
Much love, and even more new music,
Levi, Nate, and Gunner.
PS: for better sound quality, listen to the song on our myspace. Thanks.

As I'm sure most of you have heard by now, our newest song (Battle Cry) is getting uploaded sometime this friday...we've received so many comments and messages from you all, wanting to know if there's any way to get ahold of a copy of the song before it comes out or anything.
Sadly....no.
:)
But we DO want to let you read the lyrics, for all our faithful blog readers out there.
This song's about fighting for what you believe in.
It comes from our hearts as an anthem.
We can't let society compromise who we are any longer.
It's time to take a stand.
Even if it means a physical war.
The first stanza says it pretty clearly.
I am one who struggles
At times when life’s unfair
Cause people seem so selfish
And no-one seems to care
And I will not be silenced
When others shove me down
Because of my religion
And the purpose that I’ve found
And if it comes to violence
Then violence it shall be
This world will try to mame us
And choke integrity
And we will fight tonight
The chorus draws on this as well.
Picking a side.
Making your life count.
This is my battle cry
This is where someone else will die
Won’t let them take my life
Whose side are you on tonight?
The world is taking sides
You might get left behind
Are you ready to fight
This is, this is the frontline
In the second verse, we explore why people feel they need to wage war.
Some do it out of selfishness.
And some do it for what they know is right.
I love how it sounds in the recording...I think it turned out great...but you'll just have to wait until you can finally hear and decide for yourself.
:)
Many fight for pleasure
Others fight for peace
Several fight for justice
Or against authority
Many feel an anger
Burning in their chest
Some cannot control it
While others do their best
We considered jokingly changing
"Several fight for justice
Or against authority"
to
"Several fight for oil
In the middle east"
But for some inexplicable reason, it ended up being left out in the final version.
:)
ANYWAYS.
We hope you're as excited as we are about this new song...a lot of work's gone into the writing and recording of it all, but we definitely hope it's worthwhile!
Leave us love,
-The Karpenter's Kids
