As the band Pavement once sang, "The music scene is crazy, bands start up each and every day." They also take years to develop, are typically marred with lineup and direction changes, and then eventually die, save a few standouts.
For Colourslide, its short existence (having played their first show in May of 2006) has been marked with signs of distinction and longevity. This modern rock band writes songs with an alternative edge and pop sensibilities that are catchy and meaningful and itâs this formula, the band believes, that is the reason for their recent successes.
The band released its debut album in early 2007 and promptly licensed its entirety to ESPN, MTV, E!, and Oxygen. Wake Up Call, a standout track, was featured on Baseball Tonight, Images of the Year during the College Football Awards, and most recently won the Maxell Song of the Year in the John Lennon Song Writing Contest and took grand prize in the Gretsch Greats Contest.
As the band toured in support of their self-titled album, they shared the stage with many regional and national acts like Blind Melon, Needtobreathe, Luna Halo, Flogging Molly, Phantom Planet, Will Hoge, Carbon Leaf, and Seven Mary Three. Their tour climaxed in the summer of 2008 as Colourslide made stops at renowned events like Summerfest in Milwaukee and on the entire Florida leg of the Warped Tour.
The band continues to make waves and is currently preparing for their second studio album with producer and friend, Ted Comerford. Four songs were tracked in early â08 and the band recently made a trip to the famed Ocean Way Studios to have two of the songs mixed by industry icon Jack Joseph Puig. With the confidence boost that comes with the involvement of such remarkably important figures in music, the band is excited and driven as they continue their studio work this fall.

Hi Everyone,
As some of you have already seen, we are excited to announce that we took the grand prize in the Gretsch Greats contest! We couldn't be more excited; what a year this has turned into! Thank you so much for all your votes and well wishes. We couldn't have gotten this far without all that you do. Go to here (http://www.gretsch.com/newsletter/0809a.html) to read Gretsch's official announcement.
We will be playing Gretsch's 125th Anniversary Party at the Highline Ballroom in NYC on November 18th. We wish we could pack the place with all of you but this will be a closed show, invite only. We'll be thinking of you the whole time and will do our best to post pictures (if we're allowed, ha).
This is another tremendous honor that we owe all to you!
Until we see you next...

Hello all,
Sorry for the delay on this, but we wanted at least let everyone know that Colourslide was featured on the BACK COVER of Billboard Magazine...yes THE Billboard Magazine...pretty amazing! The band is shown receiving their Song of the Year Award from the John Lennon Song Writing Contest in a full page, back cover ad placed by the JLSC. It's been extremely difficult to find copies of this issue (week of August 2nd), most places are multiple weeks behind and when they do have the newest issue there have only been one or two copies available. Most book stores will have Billboard, save a few, and that issue can still be ordered through Billboard's website here. Hope you're as excited as we are!

Take care,
CS

The long wait is over and as the headline states, "Wake Up Call" took the ultimate title in the John Lennon Song Writing Contest, 2007 Maxell Song of the Year! We found out about two weeks ago but had to keep it hush hush until the official announcement was made. You can imagine that was no easy task, walking around on cloud nine and not being able to say why. The official announcement was made this past Wednesday, June 25th, when the band opened up for Natasha Bedingfield at Irving Plaza in New York. It was a surreal experience, from photo ops with giant checks to rubbing elbows with some pretty amazing people and playing for a sold out crowd at a historical venue in New York...wild.
There are no words to express our excitement and gratitude to everyone at DAS and The John Lennon offices not to mention all of our fans who's votes made it possible for us to even have a shot at Song of the Year. This is by far the band's biggest accomplishment to date and we're excited to be able to share it with everyone. Below is the actual press release, make sure to to also do a search for "Colourslide Maxell Song of the Year" to see who is talking about us...unbelievable.
Speachless,

March 18
Hello all,
We wanted to share some very exciting news with you and ask for your help yet again. First off, we found out last week that "Lost Again" WON GRAND PRIZE in the Rock category of the John Lennon Song Writing Contest, and "Wake Up Call" received equal recognition. For those unfamiliar, this is an international songwriting contest that began in 1997 and, in the vast world of these types of competitions, is one of the most highly regarded and recognized for it's size and scrutiny. It's an amazing honor to be selected as one of only two top Rock songs for the 2007 contest but there are still two more tiers to complete, and that's where we need your help...
Starting tomorrow (March 19th) the contest opens for online voting to decide which of the 2 top Rock songs will take the Lennon Award and title of Best Rock Song of 2007. If your voting gets us to this stage, we then have a chance to win overall Song of the Year, which would be an unbelievable accomplishment in and of itself but they also throw a huge check our way...which could mean a very good year for the band. So, with your votes, we hope to go as far as this ride can go and we believe it's possible. All you have to do is follow the link below, register an e-mail address and vote once per day until April 26th!! We realize this is a lot to ask, but these extra 2 minutes of your day for the next month can make an incredible impact on this band for the rest of the year...PLEASE DO YOUR BEST TO VOTE ONCE PER DAY, WE CAN'T DO THIS WITHOUT YOU!!
Thank you so much in advance for all that you will do, and all that you have done in the past for us, it means the world and we appreciate each and every one of you! Feel free to e-mail if you have any questions! Now go VOTE!
Dean, Alex, Steve, and Joe
