They have been called one of the greatest worship bands ever, one of the hottest Christian acts in southern Indiana, and one of few artists worthy to tour with the likes of Newsboys and Jeremy Camp. They have overtaken James Blunts Beautiful, and swept over such artists as Sevendust, Taking Back Sunday, and Pillar on their way to the top of the charts at numberonemusic.com and bandspace.com. They are arguably one of the most sought after Christian acts in the southern Indiana scene. And, most importantly they give it all back to the One that made it all possible, Jesus Christ. Branches was formed by lead singer/guitar player Joey Weitkamp in the spring of 04. After a few line-up changes the band was rounded out with Cody Lents (bass/bgv), Billy Welsh (drums), and Andrew Johnson (guitar/bgv). Their highly anticipated independent EP, Deliver, was released in the spring of 06 to the open arms of their fans and the awaiting online community. Over the following months all three songs on Deliver reached number one, but none harvested the respect of their hit single, To the End. Its success allowed Branches to develop a fan base that reached beyond the coastal boundaries of America. Though the success was encouraging, Branches refused to let the ministry be overcome by their worldly aspirations. They followed the Holy Spirit, touring relentlessly, as He led them to stages of all sizes.
Branches has recently returned to the studio to produce two upcoming releases, a self-titled EP and their debut full-length album, Removing the Curtain. It will introduce a much more mature and developed sound from the band, and will be teeming with dynamics meant to use ones senses as a path to the soul. Bound by their faith and devotion to Jesus Christ, Branches is tackling the industry with only the Holy Spirit as their guide. Staying true to the ministry and music isnt only a point of pride. Its an appointed responsibility. That is why Branches brings an atmosphere of worship along side every performance.
Branches delivers a charismatic performance packed tight with shattering guitar riffs, delicate melodies, and tear wrenching vocals designed to connect with the audience both on and off stage.
